HipHop Asili Festival is the 1 HipHop festival in East Africa. A premiere platform for celebrating the fusion of HipHop culture with African tradition. With a strong focus on music, dance, urban art, and sport, the festival brings together local legends, international icons, and thousands of young creatives and fans from across the region.

Born in Arusha and carving her path in Dar es Salaam, Frida Amani is more than just a rapper she’s a radio & TV voice, activist, and the Madam President of Bongo rap. She burst into the scene in 2015, placing third in Bongo Star Search, and returned in 2018 with her breakout single “Jibebe”. Her work spans studio, radio, and activism—with roles at East Africa Radio and Clouds Media, and leadership in campaigns like MTOE MAMA GIZANI and Diva’s Dynasty for girls in hip hop

The HipHop Asili Festival 2025 will take place at Taasisi ya Sanaa Bagamoyo (TaSUBa) from June 27–28, 2025. Over two powerful days, expect artist residencies, live performances, and community sessions — all woven into an immersive cultural experience by the sea.
